Hi, everyone, I live in this Historic place called Pelham Massachusetts, it is right next to the Quabbin which is a manmade reservoir. Pelham is full with history from the revolutionary war, including that Pelham is the place that Daniel Shays lived during the Shays rebellion.
I do own a metal detector although it won't be in this story. This story is very interesting and is still a mystery...
This story was not about the revolutionary war but anyways, I was walking in the woods across my house and I found this gravestone in the woods by itself, and it read "JOEL RHODES DIED JULY 6. 1864: E. 57 yrs." I contacted a Historical Society member and he said, "Not many people know about this, but the reason why there is only one grave is because Joel Rhodes had smallpox and the town buried him somewhere else. which is the little strip of woods across my street." I could not find much information at all. All I know is that Joel Rhodes is ancestor of his descendant who made the Rhodes School in the 1930's. The Rhodes School is now a town office. If you have any Info, although I doubt anyone will just comment below and feel free to ask questions. Thanks Everyone, Jacob, Jacobfurtaw00@gmail.com
