Reality Metal Detecting TV Series Can't Make It!
This is Frank Pandozzi, Executive Producer of Exploring Historys Treasures, metal detecting, TV series. Here is my response to a podcast at the link provided re: how a treasure hunter could never make it in reality TV.
Hey folks, if you have a dream, go for it. Do not let anyone tell you that you can't do it.
"I disagree with a few things of what Dan has stated in this podcast. Having filmed 13 episodes that aired in 26 states, and filmed 5 more that are being edited, I'll state my case.
First, my reality TV show speaks for itself. More than 100,000 testimonials, and thousands of sales of DVD's and downloads. I, nor my co hosts are actors, everything we film is real. Unlike the series "Survivor", where participants are coached, and then they film, we often spend 8-10 hours a day filming, to capture 10 -15 minutes of footage to use.
Dan mentioned that the producers will be un-abel to locate a real treasure hunter who knows how to research, and that the producer will not be able to film, because most treasure hunters end up in Parks, and you can't film in parks, because many parks, and lands are off limits. Well Dan, you are wrong again. I have filmed on private property with permission. I have filmed every episode after researching a treasure lead, or the history of the area. I have more than 100 treasure leads that expand to 40 States, that are all on private property, that I can film. Leads come to me because of my series. I am a researcher first, and a treasure hunter second, that is why my TV show is the best REALITY show on mretal detecting and history.
Unfortunately, I have been contacted by more than 200 of those so called production companies myself. However, my series was at the NAPTE TV conference in Vegas a few years ago, and it received overwhelming reviews from not only in the US, but from Europe, Canada, and S. America. And, we had Travel, Discovery, and History channel, as well as recently, A&E, and the Bravo networks look at us.
I don't think that is bad for a guy who is not at actor, knew nothing about TV production, or Reality TV, and is nothing more than a treasure hunter who had a dream.
Oh, and BTW. I am not looking for fame, and I parked my ego in the closet many years ago."
ThanksFrank

Hey Professor? Prove it!
Apparently a professor, Matthew Zembo, at Hudson Valley Community College in New York is upset that someone with a metal detector had dug some Revolutionary War buttons at a battle site that is not a protected historical site. The professor assumed the buttons were removed from the bodies of buried, dead soldiers. I say, "prove it professor." Digging a button from that time period does not mean that it was removed from a body. I have dug hundreds of buttons from battle sites that had simply fell from the material. Why? Because of the well worn, and battle fatigued clothing. By you assuming that a person with a metal detector that digs a button, means that the button was removed from a body, then you are also accusing myself and others of doing the same. And BTW, how many buttons, coins, and artifacts do you have hidden away in your private collection? Items that you and your fellow Arkies have removed illegally from digs?
To my fellow detecting friends, it has been stated in other blogs regarding this issue that we should be nice to the professor. I have news for ya regarding "nice." I've been fighting the Arkies and the beauracrats for both you and me for ten years by being nice, and where has that taken us? We are no better off now, then we were ten years ago, and the situation is becoming more alarming.
